1. Click on the big bird-man statue.
2. Click on the little dragon’s (the name’s Swellosaurus Jr., but that’s not really shorter…) tail and give it a good yanking.
3. Walk further to the right and itemize the panicking Goon.
4. As the camera moves, you can choose to walk left or right. Go right first.
5. Activate the statue the same way you did before.
6. Walk back to the Goon Totem and pick it up.
7. Walk to the right and place the Goon Totem on the silver Totem Stand.
8. Walk to the back. There you’ll find a series of levers. Position them like this: Bottom, middle, bottom. Once you’ve done that, press the button.
9. Walk back to the silver Totem Stand and climb the ladder.
10. Itemize the Goon.
11. While you’re there, light the statue.
12. Pick up the Goon Totem.
13. Walk to the left and place the Goon Totem onto the golden stand.
14. Now that you’ve gotten a Goon on that stand, there’s no need for the silver stand anymore. Lift the Goon Totem off of it.
15. Walk back to the starting point with the Totem. There, go down, and keep walking until you run into another golden stand.
16. Walk all the way back to the silver stand again, and climb back up the ladder.
17. Walk to the left to find another series of switches. Position these like this: Middle, top, middle.
18. Walk down the path and itemize the Goon.
19. Light the final statue.
20. Pick up the Goon Totem.
21. Place it on the golden stand next to the gaint hammer.
22. Climb the gaint hammer.
23. Wait for the Swellosaurus (senior) to position itself in the middle of the level. It will do so as soon as it can, once you’re on the hammer.
24. Ring Wiki once it’s there.
25. Once the camera starts moving, quickly click the ladder to climb back down.
26. Walk to the treasure chest and expel the spirit.

NOTE: Swellosaurus Jr. will regularly start crying. To calm him down you can gently rock him back and forth like a baby, pet him over his black orb-thing, or feed him fire.
If you let the little guy cry for too long, the father will shoot fire at you many times in a row.

First of all, the bottom level of the Ancient Cave is normally glitched, but as you probably noticed back in the Submarine Shrine, I’ve got a patch that’s fixed the glitched areas.

Next, I used a cheat to get a Dekar blade, because I’ve never been able to defeat the Master Jelly without one. I didn’t find one on this trip through the cave, but I’ve found many in previous runs, and frankly, I don’t feel like going through this bloody cave anymore. It’s not that uncommon, but we didn’t get lucky this time.

You need to defeat the Master Jelly in three rounds to win, hence the Dekar blade’s Fatal Blow IP and the Gades blade’s Octo-Strike IP, because he has about 10,000 HP. Old swords and mythical blades, if you’ve got any, also have IP attacks that’ll help. There’s also a ‘cheap’ way to win (detailed in the next video).

Victory earns you the key to the treasury at the cave’s entrance, which holds some nice stuff: the dragon ring (useful against dragons including the Egg Dragon), light jewel (nice stat boosts) and brill[iant] helm (one of best pieces of headgear in the game). Of course, this is Gift Mode, so they’re useless here (we can’t bring them back into the Ancient Cave, and selling them for money is pointless). In regular modes, though, they’re nice.

The Master Jelly is himself the tenth and last Iris Treasure (and the only one that’s fixed). Returning him completes our collection in the gallery in Gruberik.

Western Volcano Ancient Lore IX:
Cross the bridge three times. Don’t forget to take a full Hard Hat with your the second time, or else you can’t beat the level.
Secret treasure are only added to your collection if you beat the level, you know.

Western Volcano Ancient Lore XII:
At the bottom right of the level there’s 5 rocks in a corner. Stand behind them and ring Wiki until a chest appears.

NOTE: Secret treasure can only be obtained after having beaten “Barbaros’s Land – Final Battle”!
