The Little Match GirlThe Little Match Girl
The Little Match Girl (written in 1848) a Danish fairy tale written by Hans Christian Anderson. (Who also brought to us tales such as The Snow Queen, The Little Mermaid, and the Ugly Duckling) Tells the story of a young girl who suffers a cold winter night with only her matches on New Years Eve. In this version of the fairytale, she is unable to sell any matches at all and takes refuge in a nook between two buildings. There one by one she strikes a match given the images of a happier time. One by one the matches are struck. An iron stove to warm her, a wonderful feast to feed her, and with the third match a beautiful Christmas tree lit with a million candles that dazzle like stars in the sky. With that match struck she sees the image of her late grandmother, the one person who truly loved her. Not wanting to let go the image she lights her one and only match and is able to embrace her grandmother. The woman takes the happy girl into her arms and together they leave the nook between the buildings. And go to a place where there is no pain, no hunger, and no cold.

I read this story every year and every time I do either to my cousins or to a friends child I have trouble getting past the last few pages because of crying so much. Each year so many children die due to starvation, cold or simply not having enough to get to the next day. Please, take the time to go through your closet and find any old jackets or old clothes you are not using. Take them to the nearest shelter near your or even possible a local salvation army. Even my own small hick town has one available and I donate each year. You don’t have to donate your time even your money if you don’t wish just a simple something. Clothes, toys, food, would mean so much to a child especially during the holiday seasons. And if you can not part with your goodies in your house then help with time. Volunteer or even give a check or a few dollars to the ringing Santa Claus that is standing by the door during the holidays. Story:

On October 17, 1949, Frederic Chopin, one of the most influential composers for the piano, succumbed to sickness and died at the young age of 39. Three hours prior to that, in the world according to this RPG, Chopin saw a dream of a fairy-tale land populated by people with incurable diseases but also magical powers.

Eternal Sonata takes place in this dream world. Chopin comes into contact with Polka, a young girl who resides with her mother in the village of Tenuto. Polka is near her death, and Chopin, Polka, and her young friend Allegretto as they look for some way to make use of Polka’s great powers to help save her. It’s a whimsical fantasy, but this RPG designed by developer tri-Crescendo also a complex and combo-based battle system of swords and magic weaponry. In keeping with inspiration, music and story play a big part in Eternal Sonata. Performing the piano numbers that Chopin left to the world is Russian pianist Stanislav Bunin, with musical composition by noted game composer Motoi Sakuraba.
