HELLO all! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Tony – I am a Roman Catholic. This series is obviously supposed to be funny (don’t take me running around in tights seriously). However, my main reason for starting this series is to focus on a certain issue each episode. Other episodes focus on the morality of forms of governments and sweatshop labor. This episode focuses on hatred in religion – on the fact that religion should never be used to hate people of another faith, and that religion should never cause one to feel superior to people of another faith. The Catholic Church teaches that there is good to be found in all religions, and the good found in them should always be valued.

Please note that the character ‘Evangelical Earl’ is not meant to represent Evangelicals – I simply created the character to be an Southern character for comedic purposes.

INTRODUCTION:

YES folks, it’s CAPTAIN CATHOLIC – former Swiss Guard from the Vatican. Cleverly disguised as annoying and klutzy Theology Major, Tony DeGennaro, no one would ever suspect the absent-minded and overly-perky geek of being associated with his mysterious true identity. With the God-given mystical ability of sin sense, Captain Catholic is in fact able to sense sin, at which time he must don his Vatican Flag-covered cape in order to protect and keep a watchful eye over the kind citizens of Scranton, Pennsylvania. As always, Captain Catholic is here to spread the values of LOVE, HOPE, AND THE CATHOLIC WAY.

While standing for every teaching of Holy Mother Church, Captain Catholic respects and wants to learn more about the beliefs of all people of good will. Sent by the Pope himself on a special mission to pursue the Vatican II desire for better dialogue among people of different religious beliefs, or lack there-of, Captain Catholic wants to hear YOUR thoughts on various significant moral issues of our time. The Catholic Church wants to know what YOU believe and WHY you believe what you do, so that all people of good will may come to a better understanding of one another. Once this happens, the world can truly be at peace, and Captain Catholic will not rest until peace and love prevail. Captain Catholic wants to ask you, “What do YOU think of the Catholic way?”
